Hello Twerton,
Can anyone tell me of any old cemeteries in the area and are there any record offices for them?
Thankyou,

Hi Eleanor,
There is a Cemetery only a few yards to the East of Inverness Rd. The cemetery was used between about 1890 and 1950. It’s called Bellotts Rd Cemetry. There is also a cemetery around St. Michael’s Church, Twerton which was used up until about 1900.
The main record office in Bath is:-
The Archives of the Guildhall,
High Street,
BATH
Tel: 01225 477421
Dont forget St Peters Cemetary on the Lower Bristol Rd near Midland Bridge, my Granfather was a Twerton resident and was buried there in the early 1920’s
Keith – you mean St James’ Cemetery.
John – You could well be right!
Thankyou everyone for your help
I have only just found relatives that lived in this area and wondered if anyone could help. On the 1911 Census Amelia ELiza Ashford lived in Bellots Road number 19 with her daughter EMily and two sons James and Edward. would they have been buried in Bellots Road Cemtery? Also the sons were Railway Clerks presumably on teh Twerton Railway. Is there any local history or records of people who worked on the railway and where could I fins this information. I live in Kent so travelling is a bit of problem at the moment. Any help at all would be gratefully recieved.
I am trying to trace the Phippen family from Twerton. My 2xgt Grandmother was Sarah Phippen (born in approx. 1826 in Twerton). On her marriage certificate to Joseph Beaven it states that her father is Henry Phippen. Any information would be much appreciated, thanks.
There are Phippens living in Twerton at Long Hay Close.
