Lansdown View
- Looking towards Lansdown with the rear of Albany Road, and Bath Cabinet Makers (later Arkana) clearly in View.
- A picture taken from Lansdown View looking towards Bristol showing a view of Twerton village, prior to the large housing developments being built. A view which is now obscured and much changed.
Keith Carpenter would like to share these two photos with you. They were taken by his father in March 69, when to (his
horror) the news of the development was announced.

Hello Keith – Thanks for putting these pictures on the site. Do you know what the fields opposite were used for / called etc as I am doing some research into Long Heys Farm and would love to find out more. My family who rented Long Heys also rented fields called Catchacre and Rye Grass Field, Ps I also had family in no 5, 37 and 59 Landsdown View.

Apologies for delay! I was very young when these pictures were taken, I do recall the fields or the Meadow as my Dad called them, our house in Lansdown View was called Tormead (over the Meadow).
I do have a short bit of cine film of the old farm house on the site in a derelict state taken from Shophouse Road where my Uncle lived in the early 60’s but I can’t recall it, so I guess the area was a farm.
Can I ask who you knew in no.59? I recall Mrs & Mrs Luton living there, she died circa 1981 and the house changed hands then. The Luton’s were Carpenters in the Twerton area.
