In all likelihood, it may have been a pill box built for when the invasion of England was imminent during the second world war. Such structures are commonplace. However, there were coal mines across the hills in Twerton, so it may have been one of these? Perhaps some old maps may shed some light? Anyone else?
There was one at the ‘Bath End’ of Bath City Football Club.
There was one on the Brickfields the foundations were visible until the field was levelled in the mid 70’s.

I remember the air raid shelter in Innox Park. I was 7 years old at the time. One of our neighbours used to bring her Air Dale dog called ‘Jock’ (as well as her children – Alec, & Christine), during an air raid.
