Supporting disabled children, young people and their families

Time2Share is a local charity that supports disabled children and their families in Bath and North East Somerset. Volunteer befrienders are linked with a disabled young person to help them get involved in social and leisure activities and to offer support and friendship. People do all sorts of activities together from arts and crafts, cooking, to watching rugby or playing football in the park.

Local lad, Daniel (13), meets his befriender once a week to explore the local area on their bikes. Emma, a volunteer from Twerton, really enjoys shopping with her link. "We have a coffee and look at clothes together. It's great knowing that I'm helping the rest of the family get a break too".

Time2Share are currently supporting 18 families in the Bath but there are always more families waiting than volunteers! We desperately need new, enthusiastic volunteers. No previous experience is necessary, just the right motivation and a caring approach. Volunteers come in all shapes and sizes and people often volunteer in couples, with their friends or in families as well as on their own. The scheme is very flexible and can fit around work commitments. We cover travel expenses, and the families cover the cost of activities (with some support from Time2Share).

We also need volunteers to help out with our youth groups. We currently run two groups meeting in Twerton Village Hall once a month. One group is for disabled young people aged 13 - 18, the other for over 18s. Please get in touch if you would like more information about joining these groups either as a young person or a volunteer.

Can you help? Even just a couple of hours can make a huge difference to a young person and their family. You can call us on 0117 9415868, email us at Bath@time2share.org.uk or visit our website www.time2share.org where you will find more information about getting involved and an application form to become a volunteer.
