Opening up the Recording Studio and the Live Room during the school day to the Link they are providing us with some fantastic new gear which will take our studio to a whole new level and which will be available out of school hours.

Don’t feel that you have to have any specific skills or talent.  This is more abotu self expressionand enjoyment.  So come to learn, to share and explore.  Costs will be minimal as the project has been given some start up funding to get thigns going.

If you are interested in recording a CD, learning sound engineering, lay a few tracks, have your own songs produced, then get in touch with Phil and Phil who will be delighted to help you out.  Situated upstairs in its own space the recording studio has been kitted out with some fantastic gear and some great software.  Lots of lovely flashing lights, great effects, infinite possibilities…  So come and get involved.

Sadly Sam broke her foot over Christmas and she’s not going to be able to get back to dancing till after half term. Don’t lose heart though, as she’ll be back with passion and energy as soon as possible. Keep dancing : )

An amazing community arts venue

The Rec House is a great venue right in the heart of Twerton dedicated to the arts.  It has a fantasitcly versatile ‘Live Room’ available for bands, dance sessions, theatre workshops, live music, art displays and so much more.   With a well equipped kitchen, delightful garden and recording studio upstairs it is an wonderful place for people to offer themselves to others in order to help them grow, develop and to express themselves.  Recently refurbished to high level the centre is well kept and refreshingly bright and inviting.  Once a cold and musty space the new centre has been freshened up with new equipment, new floors, new ligthing, a new colour scheme and a new vibe. It is a venue for people to get together in, to share life with others, to practice, to experiment… a place to be with others, laughing and smiling.

An energetic agent of change

Set up by people connected with St Michael’s church next door, the Rec House is not only a venue. We want the Rec House to be an agent of transformation and change here in Twerton – an active and vibrant group of people that want to make a tangible impact on the community and on the lives of individuals.  Creativity, music, art, dance, drama are some of the most powerful tools that we humans have for reviewing our lives, changing the ways we see things and living differently.  Creativity joins us together and empowers us.  Creativity heals us. Creativity helps us express ourselves.  Creativity stretches us and challenges us.  Creativity makes us different.  That is why it matters and why it is so good that we have a community of creative people to work together for the sake of the locality.

A new kind of Christian Community

Lastly, the Rec House is a new kind of Christian community – a group of people centred on Jesus who simply want to make a difference in the area and serve others by engaging in the creative arts. Dependent on the Spirit and shaped by the life of Jesus this community aims to be outward looking, or missional in its focus. Recognising that life comes from a restored relationship with God and neighbour through faith in Jesus it is our hope that as this community shares life together it will displays a quality of life that attracts others, not just to the centre, but to explore the deepest meanings of life and community with us.

This form needs to be completed by a parent or guardian and returned by posting or dropping it in to The Rec House, High Street, Twerton, BATH BA2 1DQ (the building between the Full Moon Pub and St. Michael’s Church).  Do not enclose any money.  The child or young person will need to bring £2 on the day of each workshop.

6pm – 7pm : School Years 3 – 6
7pm – 8pm : School Years 7 – 11

The cost of each workshop is £2 per young person.  Places are limited and so booking is essential using a booking form.
